BNV : পলেষ্টীয়রা যুদ্ধের জন্যে সৈন্য জড়ো করতে লাগল| যিহূদার সোখোতে তারা জড়ো হল| সোখোর আর অসেকার মাঝখানে তাদের তাঁবু পড়লো| জায়গাটা ছিল এফস্দম্মীম নামে একটা শহরে|
KJV : Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which [belongeth] to Judah, and pitched between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephes-dammim.

KJV : And [he had] an helmet of brass upon his head, and he [was] armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat [was] five thousand shekels of brass.

ERVEN : The wooden part of his spear was as big as a weaver's rod. The spear's blade weighed 15 pounds. Goliath's helper walked in front of him, carrying Goliath's shield.

BNV : প্রত্যেকদিন গলিযাত্‌ বেরিয়ে এসে ইস্রায়েলীয় সৈন্যদের দিকে যুদ্ধের হুঙ্কার দিয়ে বলত, “কেন তোমরা যুদ্ধের জন্য সারবন্দি দাঁড়িয়ে? তোমরা শৌলের ভৃত্য| আমি একজন পলেষ্টীয়| একজনকে তোমরা বেছে নাও, তাকে আমার সঙ্গে লড়বার জন্য পাঠিয়ে দাও|
KJV : And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set [your] battle in array? [am] not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.
YLT : And he standeth and calleth unto the ranks of Israel, and saith to them, `Why are ye come out to set in array the battle? [am] not I the Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose for you a man, and let him come down unto me;

ERVEN : Each day Goliath would come out and shout a challenge to the Israelite soldiers. He would say, "Why are all of your soldiers lined up ready for battle? You are Saul's servants. I am a Philistine. So choose one man and send him to fight me.

BNV : যদি সে আমাকে হত্যা করে তাহলে আমরা পলেষ্টীয়রা সকলেই তোমাদের ক্রীতদাস হব| কিন্তু আমি যদি তাকে হত্যা করি, তাহলে তোমাদের সবাইকে আমাদের ক্রীতদাস হতে হবে এবং আমাদের সেবা করতে হবে|”
KJV : If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.
YLT : if he be able to fight with me, and have smitten me, then we have been to you for servants; and if I am able for him, and have smitten him, then ye have been to us for servants, and have served us.`

BNV : পলেষ্টীয়রা আরো বলল, “এই আমি এখানে দাঁড়িয়ে ইস্রায়েলীয় সৈন্যদের নিয়ে ঠাট্টা তামাশা করছি| সাহস থাকে তো একজনকে পাঠিয়ে দাও| আমার সঙ্গে হয়ে যাক এক হাত লড়াই|”
KJV : And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
YLT : And the Philistine saith, `I have reproached the ranks of Israel this day; give to me a man, and we fight together.`

KJV : Now David [was] the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehemjudah, whose name [was] Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men [for] an old man in the days of Saul.
YLT : And David [is] son of this Ephrathite of Beth-Lehem-Judah, whose name [is] Jesse, and he hath eight sons, and the man in the days of Saul hath become aged among men;

BNV : য়িশযের প্রথম তিনটি পুত্র শৌলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধে গিয়েছিল| প্রথম পুত্রের নাম ইলীয়াব| দ্বিতীয় জনের নাম অমীনাদব, তৃতীয় নাম শম্ম|
KJV : And the three eldest sons of Jesse went [and] followed Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle [were] Eliab the first born, and next unto him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.

BNV : সবচেয়ে যে ছোট তার নাম দায়ূদ| ওঁর তিন দাদা শৌলের সৈন্যদলে য়োগ দিয়েছিল|

BNV : সেই পলেষ্টীয় (গলিযাত্‌) প্রতিদিন সকালে আর সন্ধ্যায বেরিয়ে এসে ইস্রায়েলীয় সৈন্যদের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে হাসি মস্করা করত| এইভাবে
KJV : And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days.
YLT : And the Philistine draweth nigh, morning and evening, and stationeth himself forty days.

BNV : একদিন যিশয় তাঁর পুত্র দায়ূদকে বললেন, “এক ঝুড়ি ভাজা শস্য আর দশটা গোটা পাঁউরুটি নিয়ে শিবিরে তোমার দাদাদের কাছে যাও|
KJV : And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched [corn,] and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren;

BNV : তাছাড়া দশ টুকরো পনিরও নিয়ে যেও| তোমাদের দাদারা যার অধীনে যুদ্ধ করছে সেই সেনাপতিকে এটা দেবে| সে 1,000 জন সৈন্যের সেনাপতি| তোমার ভাম্পদের কুশল সংবাদ নাও| ওরা যে ভাল আছে সে রকম কিছু চিহ্ন নিয়ে এসো|
KJV : And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of [their] thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.
YLT : and these ten cuttings of the cheese thou dost take in to the head of the thousand, and thy brethren thou dost inspect for welfare, and their pledge dost receive.`

BNV : তোমার ভাম্পরা এল| উপত্যকায শৌল আর ইস্রায়েলীয় সৈন্যদের সঙ্গে রযেছে| তারা সেখানে পলেষ্টীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য রযেছে|”

BNV : য়িশযের কথা মতো ভোরবেলায দায়ূদ একজন রাখালের ওপর মেষগুলো দেখাশোনার দায়িত্ব দিয়ে খাবার দাবার নিয়ে চলে গেলেন| দায়ূদ শিবিরে ঠেলাগাড়ী চালিযে নিয়ে গেলেন| সেখানে পৌঁছে তিনি দেখলেন সৈন্যরা যুদ্ধের জন্য বেরিয়ে যাচ্ছে| ওরা সিংহনাদ দিতে থাকল|
KJV : And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.
YLT : And David riseth early in the morning, and leaveth the flock to a keeper, and lifteth up, and goeth, as Jesse commanded him, and he cometh in to the path, and to the force which is going out unto the rank, and they have shouted for battle;

ERVEN : Early in the morning, David had another shepherd take care of the sheep while he took the food and left as Jesse had told him to. David drove their wagon to the camp. The soldiers were going out to their battle positions just as David arrived. The soldiers began shouting their war cry.

BNV : যে খাবার-দাবার য়োগান দেয তার কাছে সব কিছু রেখে দিয়ে দায়ূদ বেরিয়ে পড়লেন| যেদিকে ইস্রায়েলীয় সৈন্যরা দাঁড়িয়েছিল, সেদিকে তিনি দ্রুত চলে গেলেন| সেখানে গিয়ে তিনি দাদাদের খোঁজ খবর নিলেন|

ERVEN : While David was talking with his brothers, the Philistine champion fighter came out from the Philistine army. This was Goliath, the Philistine from Gath. Goliath shouted things against Israel as usual. David heard what he said.

ERVEN : David's oldest brother Eliab heard David talking with the soldiers and became angry. Eliab asked David, "Why did you come here? Who did you leave those few sheep with in the desert? I know why you came down here. You didn't want to do what you were told to do. You just wanted to come down here to watch the battle."
